Honey Sesame Pork

Yes, I do cook meat! And, I take great pride in cooking a good dish. The pork roast is legendary in my family and my circle of friends and acquaintances. Although, consuming pork in our community is  a  recent acquired taste, traditionally our families did not consume pork. It is unheard of in our grandmother's kitchen but now with the availability of clean hygienic products , it is a very popular meat. The meat itself is so flavorsome!

A great meat dish on a cool mellow day is manna from heaven. Nothing to elaborate, this dish of pork with honey and sesame with seasonal green is super easy and quick. The nutty taste of toasted sesame does something very beautiful to the meat. It tastes fabulous and the effort is certainly not much.

Ingredients:

500gm of  lean meat cut into cubes
3 tbsp soya sauce
2 tbsp of sesame seeds ( lightly toasted)
3/4 cloves of garlic,chopped fine
2 tbsp of honey
2 tbsp of sesame oil
1 large onion chopped into chunks
1 tsp grated ginger.
1 bunch of mustard/ spinach green.

Method:

In a bowl, mix together the chopped garlic, soya sauce, honey, grated ginger. Let all the flavours infuse well.

Cook the meat in a pressure cooker with minimal water for one whistle and then lower the flame and cook for another 7/10 mins. Turn off heat. Once the steam is released on it own, take off the lid.

In a wok, heat the sesame oil.

Add the diced onion, when they turn pink, add the meat and add the honey, ginger, soya mix , stir and cook for 8/10 mins.

Let it coat the meat well,

Add the greens, fry for another minute.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds.

I like to serve this with steamed rice.

I hope you all do try it out and I'm confident that the results will be positive!
